Catrice Re-Touch Light-Reflecting Concealer - Review

I've been addicted lately to concealer pens and I really, really like the new Catrice Re-Touch Light-Reflecting Concealer with its fancy sleek silver mirror shine packaging and the typical twist up type brush tip applicator. I've the shades 010 ivory and  020 light beige and  both are yellow toned, which will correct blue or purple shadows  in your under eye area.  The concealer  dries very quickly, so you should be working it very quickly into your skin. The finish is satin I would say, and the so called light-reflecting particles are not detectable to the eye, or maybe if you look very, very closely.

Catrice Re-Touch Light-Reflecting Concealer applied under the eye circles in  all three pictures
The concealer feels hydrating on the skin and  gives a good coverage which is build-able. Another good thing about it is that it never looks cakey nor does it settle in the lines.Always a bonus. It also feels hydrating on the skin and it does great job in covering your average under-eye dark circles, but I don't think that it could cover up major imperfections such as dark pigmentation or very dark under-eye circles.  But on the other hand, due to its light consistency, it does double up as face highlighter.
All together I am very happy with this concealer and its performance and would defiantly recommend to check it out.

Price in Ireland: €4.49.

Have you tried this concealer yet?

ITEC and CIBTAC Case Studies: Skin Care and Eye Treatment
These Case Studies have passed both ITEC and CIBTAC Beauty Specialist Exams. I've published these case studies only as a guideline, so please do yourself a favour and do not copy them, but rather try to come up with your own version. When you write your own case studies, you also learn at the same time and that in return will help you with your exam papers.

Case Study 1
Client Profile:

Dagmar is 52, Counsellor, Home Carer and mother of two kids
Dagmar has a very active lifestyle, but she still finds time to care for herself and her skin. Dagmar goes regularly to beauty treatments and usually only uses high end cosmetics. Dagmar has been looking after her skin since very young age, and it shows; Dagmar’s skin is very smooth with very good elasticity and muscle tone. She only has few fine lines around her nose area.
Dagmar’s only concern is the broken capillaries and the redness around the nose and check area.

I asked Dagmar if she could read the client consultation form and fill in appropriately so as not to make her feel uncomfortable asking personal questions.  I then prepared products for mature skin.

Treatment details:
I asked Dagmar to lie down on the massage bed and to move her bra straps in order for me to perform the treatment properly; I then covered her with the towel and blanket up to her neckline. I asked if she was warm and comfortable which she was. I played a relaxation cd to enhance her relaxation. I sat at my stool alongside my trolley and behind my clients head and placed the headband around her hair. I asked Dagmar to close her eyes and try to relax as I was about to begin the facial by removing her make-up. I applied a small amount of Hydrating Cleansing Cream by Solutions by hive at the back of my hand and using my finger I took a little and gently applied to my client’s eyes and lips. I used cotton pads to gently remove mascara and another cotton pad to remove lipstick.
Then I applied the same cleanser to my palms rubbed together and let my client know I was to apply, again from her neck upwards. I began at the neck then up concentrating on her chin, cheeks, nose and forehead.
I removed the cleanser with damp sponges and repeated the same procedure again, which is also called double cleanse. When I was satisfied that all make-up, dirt and debris was lifted I again wiped the cleanser away with damp sponges.
I sprayed Hydrating Toner by Solutions by Hive on damp cotton pads and toned the skin and then used a tissue to dry any excess moisture.
I applied aveda tourmaline charged radiant skin refiner scrub to my palms, rubbed together and told Dagmar  that I was to apply this to her neck, chin, cheeks, nose and forehead, after which I removed with damp sponges and used a tissue to remove excess moisture.
I then advised Dagmar  that I will proceed to perform her eyelash and brow tint.
Dagmar’s eyebrows and eyelashes are grey, so I mixed equal amounts of brow and grey tint with 10% hydrogen peroxide.
I started with Dagmar’s left eye, and applied some petroleum jelly under lower the lashes, making sure that no petroleum jelly touches the eyelashes, since the tint won’t coat the eyelashes.  I explained to Dagmar, that applying petroleum jelly around the eye area provides a mask to prevent the skin around the eye area being dyed. I placed a damp cotton pad below the lower eye lashes and applied a layer of the tint to the lower lashes.  I also then applied petroleum jelly to the upper eyelid and applied another layer of the tint to the upper eyelashes, making sure to coat every single hair. I covered then Mary’s eye with a dry cotton pad and set the timer for 10 minutes. I then repeated the same procedure to the right eye.
I applied a layer of petroleum jelly on the skin around Dagmar’s eyebrows, again making sure that no petroleum jelly touches the eyebrow hair. I applied to Dagmar’s left eyebrow a layer of the tint against the hair growth, making sure to coat every single hair thoroughly. I repeated the same procedure to the right eye.
After I completed the tint application to the eyebrows, I removed the tint from the left eyebrow with a damp cotton pad and made sure that the tint has penetrated the brows. I repeated the same procedure to the right eye.
After I left the eyelash tint for 10 minutes, with a damp cotton pad and removed the tint, starting at the root and gently moving toward the edge of the lashes. I inspected the lashes closely to ensure there was no residue on the lashes. In addition, I took a fresh pad and wiped the petroleum jelly cleanly from the skin. I handed over to Dagmar a hand mirror so she could check the result, and asked her if she was happy with the colour, and she was.
Then I progressed to the eyebrow shaping, by brushing the brows up with a disposable mascara brush.  I first tweezed the area between both eyebrows to remove stray hairs growing between them, and made sure to tweeze the hairs in the direction they grew, by stretching the skin with my other hand.  I then tweezed the area below the eyebrow. I again asked Dagmar if she can check the results in a hand mirror and asked her if she was satisfied and she was.

I  then  performed facial  massage. I applied massage cream to my palms and added a few drops of sweet almond oil together with two drops rose essential oil and two drops orange essential oil. I applied the cream over the chest, shoulders, neck upwards to the chin, cheeks, nose and forehead. Once I had applied cream I began the face  massage never allowing my hands to lose contact with my client’s skin.
After the message I applied Solutions Image Skincare Ormedic Balancing Soothing Gel Masque with Organic Aloe Vera, Arnica Montana and licorice which help reduce redness and other signs of irritation while bringing sensitive skin into healthy balance.  I left the masque for 10 minutes and then I removed  it  with damp sponges again. I toned the skin with the Hydrating Toner by Solutions by Hive and then used a tissue to dry any excess moisture.
Then I  applied Ormedic Balancing Bio Peptide Crème, which is an  organic blended bio-peptide- crème that delivers essential anti-aging nutrients and vitamins to the skin. Organic Japanese Green Tea, mango shea butter, apricot and cucumber restores and balances the skin.

Client Feedback:
Dagmar said that she felt very relaxed, that her skin felt smooth and fresh and the massage was wonderful, and that made me really happy, because I know how picky Dagmar is with her facials, and she had loads of them over all the years.  She also said that she would definitely return to me for more treatments-so I scheduled her to return in 4weeks.

Aftercare/Homecare advice given:

I advised Dagmar to try and not apply any make-up for twenty four hours and drink plenty of water, and apply sunscreen everyday with at least SPF 15.
To keep the skin in a healthy condition she should implement an effective skin care regime to include cleansing, toning and moisturizing twice a day.  For best results, she also should exfoliate twice a week,   apply a good mask once a week and see a beautician for a facial once a month.
I also advised her to eat loads of fresh fruits and vegetables as possible and drink at least 2 litres of water or herbal teas a day.

Reflective Practice:
I was very pleased with my performance and extremely pleased with my client’s response. I feel I chose the appropriate products for Dagmar and her skin looked really radiant and fresh..

Once Dagmar  had left, I discarded all used pads, tissues, trolley and bed roll, returned all products back to my case and washed all bowls, sponges and brush. I removed used towels and headband ready to be washed. I wiped trolley and massage bed over with surgical spirit and placed bowls and brush inside a container with surgical spirit. I folded the massage bed and stool and placed back into their storage space. Finally I swept the wooden floor and mopped over it with anti-bacterial cleaner. If I was working in a salon I would have done the same routine but instead of placing bed and stool back into their storage space I would have placed clean bed roll over them and placed clean towels and blanket over massage bed and reset my trolley ready for my next client.

Case Study 2
Client Profile:
Veronica is 29 and she works as business analyst. Her job is quite stressful most of the time and she very often works long hours. Veronica has also very active private life, so she often feels that she doesn’t have enough time just for herself.
I welcomed Veronica warmly and asked if she could read the client consultation form and fill in appropriately so as not to make her feel uncomfortable asking personal questions. Once she had signed the form I could fill in her record card.  I asked Veronica  what type of facial homecare she did , and  she said, she usually actually doesn’t invest much time in her face routine, and usually she only takes her makeup off with facial wipes. I mentioned to her that this procedure is not great for skin, because she only moves the dirt around her face, so her face is never really clean.  Veronica said that she didn’t know that this was that bad for her skin.
Veronica has normal skin with only few minor blemishes.  She is hoping to leave with more radiant and fresh looking skin.  I prepared products for normal skin.  She also wanted me to tidy up her eyebrows.

Treatment details:
I asked Veronica to lie down on the massage bed and to make herself comfortable.   I covered Veronica with the towel and blanket up to her neckline. I also played a relaxation cd to enhance her relaxation. I sat at my stool alongside my trolley and behind my clients head and placed the headband around her hair. I asked Veronica to close her eyes and try to relax.
I began the facial by removing her eye make-up and lipstick. I applied a small amount of Deep Pore Cleanser by DMK at the back of my hand and using my finger I took a little and gently applied to my client’s eyes and lips. I used cotton pads to gently remove mascara and another cotton pad to clean the mouth.
I then cleansed her face, from her neck upwards to her forehead; I did this and then removed with damp sponges.
Then I performed another cleanse, also called double cleanse  with  the same cleanser to my palms rubbed together and let my client know I was to apply, again from her neck upwards. I began at the neck then up concentrating on her chin, cheeks, nose and forehead. When I was satisfied that all make-up, dirt and debris was lifted I wiped away with damp sponges.
I sprayed Hydrating Toner by Solutions by Hive on damp cotton pads and toned the skin and then used a tissue to dry any excess moisture.
I applied Gentle scrub by Solutions by Hive, to my palms, rubbed together and I applied this to Veronica’s neck, chin, cheeks, nose and forehead, after which I removed with damp sponges and used a tissue to remove excess moisture.
I then advised Veronica that I will tweeze her eyebrows.
First I brushed the brows up with a disposable mascara brush.  I first tweezed the area between both eyebrows to remove stray hairs growing between them, and made sure to tweeze the hairs in the direction they grew, by stretching the skin with my other hand. I then removed all hairs that looked out of place.  I asked Veronica if she feels any pain and she said no and that she was comfortable enough.
I then  performed the  facial  massage on Veronica. I applied massage cream to my and then I applied the cream over the chest, shoulders, neck upwards to the chin, cheeks, nose and forehead. Once I had applied cream I began the massage never allowing my hands to lose contact with Veronica’s skin.
I then mixed a Kaolin mask with Witch Hazel for the T-Zone, which will dry up the oil and blemishes in the area.  On the rest of the face I applied Aveda Tourmaline Charged Radiance Masque, which Cools and rehydrates with a surge of moisturizing aloe, kelp and lavender and Calms with rosewater, perfect for Veronica’s dry cheeks.   I left the mask on for 10 minutes and then I removed it with damp sponges.
I toned the skin to close the pores and applied Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Crème to lock in the moisture.

Client Feedback:
Veronika said that she really enjoyed the facial and that she  felt very relaxed, especially since she never has anytime for herself.  She liked how her skin looked and felt after. She said she would definitely return to me for more treatments.

Aftercare/Homecare advice given:

I advised Veronica to try and not apply any make-up for twenty four hours and to drink plenty of water.
I also advised her in order to keep the skin in a healthy condition she should implement an effective skin care regime to include cleansing, toning and moisturizing twice a day.  So it’s a good idea to invest in good quality products for her skin type, so facial wipes are not a good skincare regime.
For best results, she also should exfoliate twice a week,   apply a good mask once a week and see a beautician for a facial once a month.
She also needs to wear broad spectrum sunscreen with at least factor 15 everyday.
I also advised her to eat loads of fresh fruits and vegetables as possible and drink at least 2 litres of water or herbal teas a day.

Reflective Practice:
I was very pleased with my performance and I was very happy that Veronica enjoyed her facial so much. Her skin really looked so fresh and she looked much more relaxed
Once my Veronica had left, I discarded all used pads, tissues, trolley and bed roll, returned all products back to my case and washed all bowls, sponges and brush. I removed used towels and headband ready to be washed. I wiped trolley and massage bed over with surgical spirit and placed bowls and brush inside a container with surgical spirit. Case Study 3

Client Profile:
Sinead is 37 and she works as an accountant in very busy office.
I greeted Sinead warmly and asked if she could read the client consultation form and fill in appropriately so as not to make her feel uncomfortable asking personal questions. Once she had signed the form I could fill in her record card.  I asked Sinead what type of facial homecare she did , and  Sinead said, she usually does basic cleansing and moisturizing at home and once a week she applies a clay mask.
Sinead feels that her skin feels dry at the moment and has an overall dull look. She is hoping to leave with more radiant and moisturized skin that.  I prepared products for oily to normal skin.

Treatment details:
I asked Sinead  to lie down on the massage bed and to make herself comfortable.   I covered Sinead  with the towel and blanket up to her neckline. I  also played a relaxation cd to enhance her relaxation. I sat at my stool alongside my trolley and behind my clients head and placed the headband around her hair. I sprayed Hydrating Toner by Solutions by Hive on damp cotton pads and toned the skin  and  then used a tissue to dry any excess moisture.
I applied Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliant, which is good for oily and congested skin,  to my palms, rubbed together and I applied  this to  Sinead’s neck, chin, cheeks, nose and forehead, after which I removed with damp sponges and used a tissue to remove excess moisture.
I then advised Sinead  that I will proceed to perform her eyelash and brow tint.
Earlier during the consultation, Sinead and I decided that the color brown would suit best for the eyelash and eyebrow tint.  In a small mixing bowl and squeezed about one centimeter  of the eyelash tint and  added two drops of developer to the tint. Using a complying mixing stick, I mixed the tint well with the developer.
I started with Sinead’s left eye, and applied some petroleum jelly under lower the lashes, which I have decanted with my spatula making sure that no petroleum jelly touches the eyelashes, since the tint won’t coat the eyelashes.  I explained to Sinead, applying petroleum jelly around the eye area provides a mask to prevent the skin around the eye area being dyed. I placed a damp cotton pad below the lower eye lashes and applied a layer of the tint to the lower lashes.  I also then applied petroleum jelly to the upper eyelid and applied another layer of the tint to the upper eyelashes, making sure to coat every single hair. I covered then Sinead’s eye with a dry cotton pad and set the timer for 10 minutes.  I asked Sinead if she still was comfortable, and she was. I then repeated the same procedure to the right eye.
I applied a layer of petroleum jelly on the skin around Sinead’s eyebrows, again making sure that no petroleum jelly touches the eyebrow hair. I applied to Sinead’s left eyebrow a layer of the tint against the hair growth, making sure to coat every single hair thoroughly. I repeated the same procedure to the right eye.

I then removed all hairs that looked out of place.
I  then  performed facial  massage on Sinead. I applied massage cream to my palms and told Sinead that  I was to begin starting from her chest. I applied the cream over the chest, shoulders, neck upwards to the chin, cheeks, nose and forehead. Once I had applied cream I began the massage never allowing my hands to lose contact with my client’s skin.
I then mixed a Kaolin mask with Witch Hazel for the T-Zone, which will dry up the oil and blemishes in the area.  On the rest of the face I applied Image Skincare Vitamin C Hydrating masque, which boost the skin hydration  and will help regain suppleness and a healthy glow.  I left the mask on for 10 minutes and then I removed it with damp sponges.
I toned the skin to close the pores and applied Image Skincare Vitamin C Hydrating Serum and Moisturizing cream to lock in the moisture.

Client Feedback:
Sinead  said that she really enjoyed the facial and that she  felt very relaxed. She was very pleased with the end result and said she felt she looked at least five years younger. She said she would definitely return to me for more treatments-so I scheduled her to return in 4weeks. She also promised to recommend me to her friends and family members.

Aftercare/Homecare advice given:

I advised Sinead  to try and not apply any make-up for twenty four hours and to drink plenty of water.
I also advised Sinead in order to keep the skin in a healthy condition she should implement an effective skin care regime to include cleansing, toning and moisturizing twice a day.  So it’s a good idea to invest in good quality products for her skin type.

Reflective Practice:
I was very pleased with my performance and I felt I had chosen the appropriate products for Sinead.   Her skin really looked glowing and so fresh, once ridden of all the dead skin and sebum.
Once my client had left, I discarded all used pads, tissues, trolley and bed roll, returned all products back to my case and washed all bowls, sponges and brush. I removed used towels and headband ready to be washed. I wiped trolley and massage bed over with surgical spirit and placed bowls and brush inside a container with surgical spirit. I applied Solutions by Hive Gentle Facial scrub to my palms, rubbed together and let my client know I was to apply this to her neck, chin, cheeks, nose and forehead, after which I removed with damp sponges and used a tissue to remove excess moisture. Marys skin felt smooth and exfoliated after the scrub.
I then advised Mary that I will proceed to perform her eyelash and brow tint.
I started with Mary’s left eye, and applied some petroleum jelly under lower the lashes, which I have decanted with my spatula making sure that no petroleum jelly touches the eyelashes, since the tint won’t coat the eyelashes.  I explained to Mary, applying petroleum jelly around the eye area provides a mask to prevent the skin around the eye area being dyed. I then removed all hairs that looked out of place.  I again asked Mary if she can check the results in a hand mirror and asked her if she was satisfied and she was.
I  then  performed facial  massage. I applied massage cream to my palms and added a few drops of sweet almond oil, rubbed together and told my client I was to begin starting from her chest. I applied the cream over the chest, shoulders, neck upwards to the chin, cheeks, nose and forehead. Once I had applied cream I began my client’s massage never allowing my hands to lose contact with my client’s skin.
After the message I applied Solutions by Hive Hydra Intense Mask for 10 minutes to deep hydrate Mary’s skin, and then I removed the Mask with damp sponges again.
I toned the skin to close the pores and applied Image Skincare Vitamin C Hydrating Serum and Moisturizing cream to lock in the moisture.

Client Feedback:
Mary said that she felt very relaxed, that her skin felt smooth and fresh and the massage was wonderful, this really pleased me as she has had quite a few facial and massage treatments over the years. She also said that my client care was very good and she would definitely return to me for more treatments-so I scheduled her to return in 4weeks

Aftercare/Homecare advice given:

I advised Mary  to try and not apply any make-up for twenty four hours, drink plenty of water and to try and refrain from drinking any alcohol, she laughed and said no problem with the make-up but she did like a glass of wine at night.
I suggested to her to choose good quality make up that compliments her skin tone.

To keep the skin in a healthy condition she should implement an effective skin care regime to include cleansing, toning and moisturizing twice a day.  For best results, she also should exfoliate twice a week,   apply a good mask once a week and see a beautician for a facial once a month.

Reflective Practice:
I was very pleased with my performance and extremely pleased with my client’s response. I feel I chose the appropriate products for my client’s age, skin and lifestyle. She is a very busy human resources  manager within a stressful environment so to know that I had achieved my aim of treating her well, helping her to relax, feel pampered and wanting to return was very satisfying for me.
I inspected the lashes closely to ensure there was no residue on the lashes. In addition, I took a fresh pad and wiped the petroleum jelly cleanly from the skin. I gave Mary a hand mirror so she could check the result, and asked her if she was happy with the color, and she was.
I then tweezed the area below the eyebrow by making a small arch on Mary’s eyebrows.
After the message I was ready to perform the Paraffin Wax Treatment.
Before I started with Mary’s facial I already set the temperature on the paraffin heater to 55 Degree Celsius and melted it down until it appeared like water.
I then applied   a thick layer of Decleor’s Excellence de l'Age Divine Regenerating Mask to Mary’s face.
Over the mask I then applied gauze on Mary’s face in order not burn the face with the paraffin wax.
I then applied the paraffin wax with the paint brush.  I lightly brushed the face with the paint brush and fully coated the gauze with the wax.
I let the paraffin wax dry for 10 minutes. Once the wax was dry, I gently pull the wax mask off of Mary’s face, and I noticed how soft and smooth the skin has become.

I removed the rest of the mask with damp sponges and then I toned the skin to close the pores and applied Image Skincare Vitamin C Hydrating Serum and Moisturizing cream to lock in the moisture.

Client Feedback:
Mary said that she felt very relaxed, that her skin felt smooth and fresh and the massage was wonderful, this really pleased me as she has had quite a few facial and massage treatments over the years. She also said that my client care was very good and she would definitely return to me for more treatments-so I scheduled her to return in 4weeks.

Always wear broad spectrum sunscreen with at least factor 15.
I also advised her to eat loads of fresh fruits and vegetables as possible and drink at least 2 litres of water or herbal teas a day.

Reflective Practice:
I was very pleased with my performance and extremely pleased with my client’s response. I feel I chose the appropriate products for my client’s age, skin and lifestyle. She is a very busy human resources manager within a stressful environment so to know that I had achieved my aim of treating her well, helping her to relax, feel pampered and wanting to return was very satisfying for me.

Case Study 1
Diana made an appointment with me for an underarm and bikini line wax.
When   Diana arrived, I greeted her warmly. I then asked her to take a seat and to fill out the client consultation form.
Before  she  arrived, I prepared everything for the wax treatment in advance.
I plugged in the wax pot and heated it up to 50 degrees, and made sure that everthing was on the trolley that I needed for the waxing treatment.
I then  helped Diana on to bed and made sure that she was comfortable enough.
I put on  gloves  and then placed the towel across my client, so that the area to be waxed was the only area exposed. I then asked Diana to to tuck the tissue into the leg part of her underwear to protect them from the wax.  I explained to  Diana how to position her legs so that I could wax her bikini line while still keeping her covered. I asked Diana if she was comfortable, and she said she was.
I sanitized the bikini area and  put  a pre waxing lotion on it.
I tested the temperature of the wax on my own wrist and the ankle of my client.
My client was happy with the temperature of the wax.
I used cotton wool to apply talc powder to the hair and made sure that there was no moisture or oil residue that would prevent wax adhering to the hair.
Using a disposable spatula, I then applied the hot wax on the first patch, starting in the direction of the hairgrowth and then against the hairgrowth in a figure of eight motion until there was thick layer on the area.
After few seconds, I lifted a small corner at the bottom end so that I could pull it against the hairgrowth. Before I pulled the wax, I made sure that the consistency was right to pull and it was.
I then pulled the wax off in one fast movement then placed the wax patch back on the area to reduce the pain to the client.
I repeated the same procedure two more times on the right side and then moved on and did reapeted the same on the left side.
Once completely  finished with the waxing, I examined the bikini area to see if there were any hairs left and there were few.
With a sanitized tweezers,  I plucked the hairs that were left out.
After waxing I used after wax oil containing Aloe Vera to soothe the skin and also to remove any waxy residue left in the area.
On the more redden area, I also applied Savlon in order to avoid infections and excessive skin irritation.
I then sanitized the under arm area and  put  a pre waxing lotion on it.
I tested the temperature of the wax on my own wrist and the wrist of my client.
My client was happy with the temperature of the wax.

 Client Feed back/After Care advice:
Diana was very happy with the results of the  bikine line and the under arm wax. She said, she  is happy to be hairfree again and  didn’t find it to painful . She said she usually shaves the under arm area, but she will now continue to wax it.

She  also said that she will  come back again for another treatment and that she will recommend me to her friends.
I advise Diana  that it would be for the best if she can avoid any tight clothing for the next 24 hours, because it can irritate the skin  and cause ingrown hair.
She should also avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours, since the sweat is a breeding ground for bacteria.
I also advise her  not to use any artificial tanning sprays or lotions in the next 24 hours.
I advised Diana to have only warm showers and not to exfoliate for the next 48 hours and  also  to avoid  saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours.
I suggested to Diana that  she should  invest in a good exfoliater and exfoliate and moisturize her skin each time after shower to prevent ingrown hairs.
I also advised her that she should return for another treatment in 4-6 weeks.

Case study 1: Luxery hot oil manicure
Clien
My client Patricia came to see me for a luxery hot oil manicure.
I greeted her warmly and asked her to take a seat and if she would read and complete a client consultation form. When Patricia had completed the form I could also physically check for any contra-indications.

I also asked about Patricia’s occupation and what she does to care for her nails and hands.  Patricia said that she applies a good hand cream few times throughout the day and now then she would go for manicure to treat herself. I asked Patricia how she would like her nails to look and she asked for same length and oval shape.

Manicure procedure

I asked if Patricia could roll up her sleeves and I started the manicure procedure.
I disinfected my hands with antiseptic sanitizer gel and taking my client’s hands and wiped them also off with antiseptic gel.
Using nail polish remover I removed some leftovers of old enamel from Patricia’s nails, starting with her thumb nail then little finger to index finger.

Taking an emery board and holding it by the widest angle I held it at a 45 degree angle under the nail plate, firmly holding Patricia’s finger at either side of the nail I began filing each nail drawing smoothly from the middle of the side to the centre. I repeated on the other side then to the tip.

I explained to Patricia that filing back and forth can cause nails to split as this motion separates and weakens the nails. Once I had achieved the required shape I asked Patricia if she was happy with the result, and she was.

Using a spatula I took some cuticle cream and used a cotton wool stick to apply to each of Patricia’s nails, massaged using my thumbs softening the nail cuticle and the surrounding area and then I  placed her right hand into a manicure dish filled with warm soapy water.

Whilst Patricia’s right hand was soaking I repeated the same treatment to Patricia’s left hand.
After placing my Patricia’s left hand into the manicure dish I removed the right hand from soaking and dried with the dry tissues.
When Patricia’s right hand was dry I applied cuticle remover, with a cotton wool stick, to each finger nail and free edge, explaining to Patricia each stage of the treatment. Working on the nail plate using a cuticle hoof gently pushed the cuticle back & cleaned the free edge of the nail.
Using a cuticle knife, I used small circles flat against the nail from one side to the centre and from the other side to centre to remove any cuticle that was stuck on the nail plate, while I was making sure that the sure was wet. I returned the right hand back to soak in the manicure dish.
Whilst Patricia’s right hand was soaking, I took my Patricia’s left hand from its water, dried the hand with tissues and repeated the treatment.
After Patricia’s left hand back to soak I left it for a couple of minutes whilst I removed my Patricia’s right hand from the water and dried with a tissue. After leaving Patricia’s hand soak for a few minutes I removed it from the water also and dried it too with a tissue.

After both hands were dry I used a buffer to smooth the surface of the nail. This will  also allow the hot oil to better penetrate into the nail.
I then heated almond oil in a microwave for about thirty seconds on medium heat. Oil heats up very quickly when microwaved, and oil that is too hot can cause burns to the skin. I also add a few drops of orange and peppermint essential oils into the olive oil.
Once the oil was  warm,  I massage it into the hands and nails.  I then applied Aveda’s hand relief hand crème and covered Patricia’s  hands with plastic foil  in order to trap in the heat, and then put the hands into cotton  mittens and allow the oil and the cream  to penetrate into the skin and nails for about 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, I removed the plastic foil and the mittens and massaged the rest of the oil and hand cream in for about another 10 minutes>

Massage Routine
-Effleurage right hand and arm 6 times
- Kneading to forearm 3 times
-Thumb frictions to Carpal bones
-Thumb frictions to Metacarpals
-Turn hand over, thumb friction to Carpal bones inside the wrist
-Zig Zag movements with thumbs over palm of hand and returns 3 times
-6 deep stroking movements over Thenar and  Hypothenar muscles
-Turn hand over, thumb frictions over each finger working left to right from the top to tip, claw & push to top, half turn & pull back to tip
-Support client’s arm, circle hand clockwise & anti-clockwise, gently ease wrist left, back & right down 6 times
- Stretch the hand and pull upwards
-Effleurage arm 6 times.
I place right arm back to rest and repeated the massage to left hand and arm.

Once massage was complete I returned to Patricia’s right hand and removed any remaining oil with nail polish from each of Patricia’s finger nails. I repeated this to the left finger nails. I explained to Patricia that if the nail plate was not free from products then the nail base coat and enamel would not stick well and would produce a poor overall result.

Patricia chose Rimmel nail enamel in dark reddish brown color.
Starting with Patricia’s right hand thumb nail I applied base coat using only 3 strokes and continued applying to the rest of the fingernails right to left.
Once right hand was finished I applied base coat to the left hand using same procedure.
Once the base coat had dried, again starting with the right hand I began applying the purple nail enamel, using only 3 strokes, thumb first and right to left so as not to smudge the enamel. I repeated this to left hand using the same technique.
Once the first coat had dried I applied another coat to the right hand and then to the left.

Once coat had dried I then applied a top coat, again starting with the right hand & then the left hand. I explained that the top coat would protect the enamel from chipping, scratching and help it last longer.

After the application was complete I checked the finished finger nails and noticed few nails had a little enamel on the nail folds so I dipped a cotton bud into the nail enamel remover and gently removed the enamel from the folds. The finger nails looked very neat and smooth.

The manicure procedure was now complete. I asked Patricia to sit for a while until the nail polish was completely dry as I did want the end result to be smudged.

I advised Patricia to let nail polish dry thoroughly for the next 24 hours and to undertake any excessive cleaning etc.  I also explained, in order for the nail polish to last, she should wear household gloves for wet jobs and any activities involving the use of chemicals, and apply moisturizing cream beforehand.

Patricia’s home care advice

I advised Patricia to:
-use cuticle cream & moisturizer to keep hands, cuticles and surrounding areas soft so as not to dry when enduring the elements and environmental chemicals.
-always wear gloves when hands will be in water; washing dishes, using detergents  and chemicals.
- not to file backwards and forwards.
-use ph soaps
- always apply base coat so as not to discolor the nail.
-if nails split they should be mended or cut off to prevent infection or further injury.
-have a healthy diet as good diet helps with the condition of the nail.
-drink plenty of water as this helps to strengthen nails.
-return for a manicure in approx 3-5 weeks as regular manicures will reduce infection, strengthen nails reducing brittleness and keep hands looking attractive and in good shape.

Clients Feedback

I asked Patricia how she felt and if she had enjoyed her manicure. Patricia said she had felt very comfortable, relaxed and very well looked after. She was very pleased with the end result and loved it how smooth and soft her hands looked and felt.  Patricia promised, that  she definitely would return to me another luxury hot oil treatment.

After Patricia had left I returned my products to their appropriate place and discarded all waste. I cleaned and wiped the used equipment with surgical spirit and also returned them to their appropriate place.
I felt I had done a really good manicure. My client care was friendly and knowledgeable, and my manicure technique was professional. I felt I had assessed my client’s needs and as a result had successfully met my client’s expectations.

Case Study 2:
Hot Mitts Treatment with hand Mask

Client Profile
James came to see me for a luxury manicure with hot mitts. James like his hand to be manicure on a regular basis and he also find the massage gives somewhat of a relief to his stiff wrists and he feels he gets quite  dry hands because he is contact with paper all the time.

I greeted him and asked he would read and complete a client consultation form. When James had completed the form I could also physically check for any contra-indications.

I also asked about James’s occupation and what he does to care for his nails and hands.
James is a web designer and works  a lot on a computer, so his hands and wrists get often quite stiff from all the typing at the end of the day.

Details of treatment:

I asked if James could roll up his sleeves, so that I can get  started with  the manicure.
I disinfected my hands with antiseptic sanitizer gel and taking my client’s hands and wiped them also off with antiseptic gel.

Taking an emery board and holding it by the widest angle I held it at a 45 degree angle under the nail plate, firmly holding James’s finger, I began filing each nail drawing smoothly from the middle of the side to the centre.

Using a spatula I took some cuticle cream and used a cotton wool stick to apply to each of James’s nails, massaged using my thumbs softening the nail cuticle and the surrounding area and then I  placed his right hand into a manicure dish filled with warm soapy water.

Whilst James’s right hand was soaking I repeated the same treatment to James’s left hand.
After placing my James’s left hand into the manicure dish I removed the right hand from soaking and dried with the dry tissues.
When James’s right hand was dry I applied cuticle remover, with a cotton wool stick, to each finger nail. Working on the nail plate using a cuticle hoof gently pushed the cuticle back and cleaned the free edge of the nail.
Using a cuticle knife, I used small circles flat against the nail from one side to the centre and from the side to centre to remove any cuticle that was stuck on the nail plate, while I was making sure that the sure was wet. I returned the right hand back to soak in the manicure dish.

Whilst James’s right hand was soaking, I took my James’s left hand from its water, dried the hand with tissues.
After James’s left hand back to soak I left it for a couple of minutes whilst I removed my James’s right hand from the water and dried with a tissue. After leaving James’s hand soak for a few minutes I removed it from the water also and dried it too with a tissue.

After both hands were dry I could check for any loose cuticle edges, and James had few loose cuticles, which gently removed with cuticle clipper.

Once finished with a cuticle work I exfoliated James hands with an exfoliating cream for about four minutes.  Following the exfoliation, I then massaged James hands with almond oil.

Massage Routine
-Warm oil between palms of hand
-Take hold of client’s right hand first
-Effleurage right hand and arm 6 times

Hot Mitts Treatment with hand Mask

Once massage was complete I then proceeded with a hot mitts treatment.  I applied a hand mask to James hands,  and then wraped  both hands in cling film and placed  the hands into the mitts, making sure not to get any product in the mitts.  After ten minutes I removed the hot mitts and massaged in the remaining mask into James hands.
Using a spatula I took some buffing paste and with cotton wool stick I applied to each nail, smoothing using my thumbs and  then buffing each finger nail in one direction with a buffer 15 times. I explained to James that this procedure gave nails shine and smoothness.

Client feedback:

James really liked how his hands looked after the luxury manicure  with hot mitts and he  said, that he  definitely will return to me for another manicure treatment. He felt his hands felt very soft and moisturized.

Aftercare/Home care advice:

I advised James to:
-use cuticle cream & moisturizer to keep hands, cuticles and surrounding areas soft so as not to dry when enduring the elements and environmental chemicals.
-always wear gloves when hands will be in water; washing dishes, using detergents and chemicals.
- not to file backwards and forwards.
-use ph soaps

-have a healthy diet as good diet helps with the condition of the nail.
-drink plenty of water as this helps to strengthen nails.
-return for a manicure in approx 3-5 weeks as regular manicures will reduce infection, strengthen nails reducing brittleness and keep hands looking attractive and in good shape.

Case Study 3: Manicure
Client Profile:
My client Mary came to see me for a manicure.
I greeted her warmly and asked her to take a seat and if she would read and complete a client consultation form. When Mary had completed the form I could also physically check for any contra-indications.
I also asked about Mary’s occupation and what she does to care for her nails and hands.
Mary is a Human Resources Manager and works for German Bank.  She usually types a lot on a computer, so her hands and wrists get often quite stiff from all the typing at the end of the day. Also the dry office condition tends to dry out Mary’s hands a lot. Mary said that she applies a good hand cream few times throughout the day and she also goes regularly for manicure treatment.
In her spare time, Mary likes to play pigeon pot at least two times a week, and since she doesn’t wear gloves, she also has developed calluses on her hand, due to friction from the club over the long period of time she has been playing.  Mary also likes to work in her garden, and for this activity she uses her gloves.

I asked Mary how she would like her nails to look and she asked for same length and oval shape and that she also wanted to try a coral color today.

Manicure procedure
I asked if Mary could roll up her sleeves, and take off her jewelry, which I placed in the designated box.  I then started the manicure procedure.
I disinfected my hands with antiseptic sanitizer gel and taking my client’s hands and wiped them also off with antiseptic gel.
Using nail polish remover I removed some leftovers of old enamel from Mary’s, starting with her thumb nail then little finger to index finger.

Taking an emery board and holding it by the widest angle I held it at a 45 degree angle under the nail plate, firmly holding Mary’s finger at either side of the nail I began filing each nail drawing smoothly from the middle of the side to the centre. I repeated on the other side then to the tip.

I explained to Mary’s that filing back and forth can cause nails to split as this motion separates and weakens the nails. Once I had achieved the required shape I asked Mary’s if she was happy with the result, and she was.

Using a spatula I took some cuticle cream and used a cotton wool stick to apply to each of Dagmar’s nails, massaged using my thumbs softening the nail cuticle and the surrounding area and then I  placed her right hand into a manicure dish filled with warm soapy water.

Whilst Mary’s right hand was soaking I repeated the same treatment to Mary’s left hand.
After placing my Mary’s left hand into the manicure dish I removed the right hand from soaking and dried with the dry tissues.
When Mary’s right hand was dry I applied cuticle remover, with a cotton wool stick, to each finger nail and free edge, explaining to Mary each stage of the treatment. Working on the nail plate using a cuticle hoof gently pushed the cuticle back and cleaned the free edge of the nail.
Using a cuticle knife, I used small circles flat against the nail from one side to the centre and from the other side to centre to remove any cuticle that was stuck on the nail plate, while I was making sure that the sure was wet. I returned the right hand back to soak in the manicure dish.

Whilst Mary’s right hand was soaking, I took my Mary’s left hand from its water, dried the hand with tissues and repeated the treatment.
After Mary’s left hand back to soak I left it for a couple of minutes whilst I removed my Mary’s right hand from the water and dried with a tissue. After leaving Mary’s hand soak for a few minutes I removed it from the water also and dried it too with a tissue.
After both hands were dry I could check for any loose cuticle edges, and Mary had few loose cuticles, which gently removed with cuticle clipper.
Using a spatula I took some buffing paste and with cotton wool stick I applied to each nail, smoothing using my thumbs & then buffing each finger nail in one direction with a buffer 15 times. I explained to Mary that this procedure gave nails shine and smoothness, and it’s also called squeaking the nails.
Following this I told Mary I was now going to massage her hands and arms.

Massage Routine
-Warm oil between palms of hand
-Take hold of client’s right hand first
-Effleurage right hand and arm 6 times

Once massage was complete I returned to Mary’s right hand and removed any remaining oil with nail polish from each of Mary’s finger nails. I repeated this to the left finger nails. I explained to Mary  that if the nail plate was not free from products then the nail base coat and enamel would not stick well and would produce a poor overall result. This will  also even out your nail plate and get a better finish.

As agreed with Mary previously in the consultation, I then started  to paint  the nails with a  OPI's Cajun Shrimp, which is coral red shade.
Starting with Mary’s right hand thumb nail I applied base coat using only 3 strokes and continued applying to the rest of the fingernails right to left.
Once right hand was finished I applied base coat to the left hand using same procedure.
Once the base coat had dried, again starting with the right hand I began applying the dark brown nail enamel, using only 3 strokes, thumb first and right to left so as not to smudge the enamel.

Once the flash color enamel had dried, I then applied a top coat, again starting with the right hand and then the left hand. I explained that the top coat would protect the enamel from chipping, scratching and help the nail polish last longer.

After the application was complete I checked the finished finger nails and noticed few nails had a little enamel on the nail folds so I dipped a cotton bud into the nail enamel remover and gently removed the enamel from the folds. The finger nails looked very neat and smooth.
The manicure procedure was now complete. I asked Mary to sit for a while until the nail polish was completely dry as I did want the end result to be smudged.

I advised Mary to let nail polish dry thoroughly for the next 24 hours and not to undertake any excessive cleaning etc. Also playing pigeon pot and gardening wouldn’t be a good idea, especially with the French Manicure, the tips would get smudged and dirty immediately.  I also explained, in order for the manicure results to last longer, she should wear household gloves for wet jobs and any activities involving the use of chemicals, and apply moisturizing cream beforehand.
Mary’s home care advice
I advised Mary to:
- use gloves when playing pigeon pot.

I asked Mary how she felt and if she had enjoyed her manicure. Mary said that she already can feel the difference in her hands. They feel much softer and look smoother. She also felt that the stiffness in her wrist has been relieved, thanks to the hand massage.   She was very pleased with the end result of the Manicure.  Mary said, she definitely would return to me another treatment. I arranged an appointment with Mary for another Manicure treatment including paraffin wax treatment to soften Mary’s horny layer of her palms further  and to help the skin heal the cracks with the help of this deep moisturizing treatment.

Clients profile/ Overall Nail/Cuticle condition:

Dagmar came to see me for a pedicure.  I greeted Dagmar in a very friendly manner and asked her to take sit for a minute and fill out the consultation form.

Dagmar is a counsellor,  home carer and mum of two boys. I then asked Dagmar, how she normally cares for her feet, and she explained to me that she unfortunately doesn’t pay that much attention to her feet.  Dagmar also explained that she has developed hammer toes in her twenties, but since she wasn’t experiencing any pain, she never looked into get them surgically removed. I noted hardened skin on the ball of the feet and on the heels.  Dagmar’s big toe nails are hard and thick and all nails showed a yellow discoloration.

Details of treatment:

I then checked Dagmar’s feet for any contraindication and there were none, so I started the pedicure treatment.
I washed my hands with an antiseptic wash and disinfected Dagmar’s feel with a damp cotton pads and gel sanitizer.
I removed Dagmar’s old enamel from her toenails with cotton wool and enamel remover.
I then used nail clippers to cut her nails straight across and then filed the toenails straight across with the emory board to take off any rough edges. I explained to Dagmar that filing toes straight across will prevent ingrown nails.  I also advised Dagmar to always use emory boards and not metal files, as they create heat in the nails which dries out the natural moisture and weakens them.
Starting with the left foot, I took the tipped orange stick and put some cuticle cream on and massaged into the cuticles in circular movements and the feet were soaked in a basin of warm water.

I removed the feet from the water, dried them and used a rasp to remove dead skin on the Dagmar’s feet, and then I applied cuticle remover to each nail.

I used the hoof stick to lift any excess cuticle form the nail plate.
Using a cuticle knife, I used small circles flat against the nail from one side to the centre and from the other side to centre to remove any cuticle that was stuck on the nail plate, while I was making sure that the sure was wet.

Following this I told Dagmar  I was now going to massage her feet with massage oil.
Once massage was complete I removed any remaining oil with nail polish from each of nail. I explained to Dagmar that if the nail plate was not free from products then the nail base coat and enamel would not stick well and would produce a poor overall result.

Then I applied base coat and let it dry few minutes. After base coat has dried, I applied a Rimmel’s nail polish in fuchsia using only 3 strokes. I applied a second coat after the first one had dried. Once the enamel had dried, I then applied a top coat. I explained that the top coat would protect the enamel from chipping, scratching and help the Pedicure last longer.

Client feedback:

I asked Dagmar how she felt and if she had enjoyed the pedicure. Dagmar said that she already can feel the difference in her feet. They feel much softer and look smoother and she feels like she is walking on air. She also enjoyed the foot massage, and said that it has helped her to relax completely.  She was very pleased with the end result and adores the color of the nail polish. She also said that I had helped her understand more about foot care by explaining each part of the pedicure to her. She said she will defiantly follow my after-care advice, in order to reduce the build up of callus as much as possible. I arranged an appointment with Dagmar for another pedicure in four weeks time including paraffin wax treatment to further soften Dagmars’s horny layer on her feet.

Aftercare/Home care advice:

To make the best the newly pedicured feet, I advised Dagmar the following:
-          Wash feet daily and dry them thoroughly

Clients profile/ Overall Nail/Cuticle condition:

Diana  came to see me for a pedicure with French polish.   I greeted her and asked her to take a seat and if she would read and complete a client consultation form.

Diana is a fitness trainer and she sometimes exercises up to 6 hours a day. I then asked Diana, how she normally cares for her feet, and she said that she gets regular pedicures, so every six weeks.  She also said if she wouldn’t be looking after her feet, she wouldn’t be able to exercise long hours.
Diana nails are very strong and only slightly ridged.

Case Study 1
Client profile:
Abby is 23 years old and works a beauty consultant.  Since she work in the beauty industry, she wants her skin to look young and good as long as possible.  Her skin is in great condition, but sometimes she feels that the aircondiotioning in her work environment slightly dehydrates her skin.  With today’s treatment she is taking preventative measures.

Treatment details:

·         For the first treatment, I choose a Vacuum Suction in order to improve elimination and absorption of waste products through the lymphatic system. Vacuum Suction machine will deep cleanse the skin by removing skin blockages and congestion. It will also improve skin texture thorough desquamation, nourish the skin and improve colour by stimulation. It will also maintain skin firmness, hydrate and moisturize the skin.
·         Then I choose the Faradism as a second treatment, which uses electrical pulses to contract muscles in the face producing an overall toned effect and will defiantly delay the ageing process.

Treatment 1: Vacuum Suction

·         I helped Abby on the bed and made sure she and comfortable.
·         I then asked Abby to remove any jewellery and put it in a safe place.
·      I explained to Abby how the vacuum suction machine works and what benefits it will have for her skin.
·         I started the treatment by double cleansing and toning  Abby’s face.
·      I then sanitizing the machine and washed the ventouse.
·      I made sure  that  the machine is in working condition and its working normally,.
·      I also checked that there were no chips in the ventouse .
·      Then  I turned on the machine and carried on with the treatment.
·      I applied massage cream  to Abby’s face and neck, making sure I had enough on so that the ventouse will slide easily on the skin’s surface.
·      I started practicing on myself just to find the right working pressure inside the cup so that the underlying tissue won’t raise more than 20% inside the cup.
·      After checking the pressure I moved on to the actual treatment starting from the neck and moving upwards and draining the lymph towards the closest set of lymph nodes.
·      The treatment took about 10 minutes.
·      I then toned the Abby’s skin and prepared it for the Faradic treatment

Treatment 2: Faradism

·         All jewellery was already removed, since Abby had only few minutes ago the Vacuum Suction  treatment performed on her.
·         I explained the Faradism machine to Abby and what benefits it will have on her skin type.
·         I set Abby’s treatment couch in upright position.
·         I  carried out the tactile sensitivity test and the result was negative.
·         I then sterilized the machine and made sure that there were no problems with it and that it was working normally.
·         I then applied conductive gel on the electrode and begun the treatment starting to stimulate the muscles along the jaw line.
·         I worked on a biphasic polarity so that the intensity would be equal under both electrodes and stimulate the motor points evenly.
·         I contracted each muscle for 7 seconds and repeated the process 3 times. .
·         The treatment took about 15 minutes.
·         I cleansed the skin with damp cotton wool and toned it.

Client feedback:
Abby  felt the treatment stimulating and told me that she was never aware of how many muscles there were around the face area and how theycan be stimulated. She found the contractions natural, and felt her faceworking for the first time in her life. She also felt the contractions o little bitirritant around the eye area and the corners of the mouth. She also found the Vacuum suction very relaxing and said that the texture of her skin was much better after the treatment

After/Homecare Advice:
·         I suggested to have the faradic  treatment done as a course:  3times  a week for the next 4 weeks.
·         I advised Abby r to avoid make-up up for 24 hours after the treatment.
·         I advised her  not to touch her face after the treatment.
·         I also advised her against using self-tan products.
·         I recommended to her to drink plenty of water as the water helps the removal of waste by different   methods of excretion. It will also to keep the skin well hydrated throughout the day.
·      I advised her moisturize her skin with a day and night cream, and to make the difference between them two products, because even if their aims are the same they work in different ways.
·         I also advised her to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 15 in order to minimize premature ageing.

 Case Study 2

Client Profile:
Pamela is 25 years old and works as a personal assistant. She has a normal skin, but lately her skin is breaking out, leaving her T-Zone with papules.

Treatment details:
I decidedto go for the Galvanic desincrustation treatment and the Direct Method of the HighFrequency machine.

·   Galvanic Desincrustation treatment is a very complex but effective treatment, especially for an oily skin and also combination skin  because it relaxes the pores, softens the skin, breaks down the keratin present in the superficial layers, causes vasodilation which will encourage the blood flow and aid the removal of waist, increases the metabolism and last but not least it breaks down the acid mantle; all these are effects of the cathode under which sodium hydroxide is produced. The advantage with this machine is that the polarity can be reversed, the cathode becomes the anode and so the effects of the cathode are reversed, and the formation of hydrochloric acid will restore the acid mantle.
As this treatment can irritate the skin so that I why I recommended her to have it done only once every two weeks.

·         In completion of this treatment I suggested the direct method of high frequency, which will maintain the effects of the desincrustation, and help dry out any existent pustules or papules on the surface of the skin. This machine had drying, germicidal and healing effects, and it is very beneficial for oily and combination skin.  Because we had the desincrustation treatment done before this one I chose to have this one done for only around 5 minutes today.

Galvanic Desincrustation

·         I placed my client on the bed and made sure she was warm and comfortable.
·         I asked Silvia to remove any jewellery and put it in a safe place.
·         Before I started the treatment I wanted to make sure that my client is fully familiar with the machine, how it works and what the results are.  I told her that she might feel a slight sting over the papules or pustules, because the skin over those areas is more thin and sensitive to the current.  I also warned her that there may be a breakout after this treatment as it allows the toxins inside the skin to come towards the surface of the skin to be eliminated. I also told her that the quantity of sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid is neither big nor concentrated so there is no possibility of skin burn from that cause.
·         I then double cleansed and toned Silvia’s face.
·         Again in this case I wanted to perform a sharp and blunt test to make sure that the skin sensitivity is just right for this kind of treatment. The test result was negative.
·          Before I started the treatment I  made sure that the machine was working properly and that it was in a good condition and  that I had everything I needed for the treatment.
·          I sanitized my hand and the machines, applied Vaseline around Silvia’s eyes to prevent the flash.
·         I used the ball electrodes for the treatment.
·         I put a gauze around the ball electrode.
·          Using a face mask brush, I then applied the desincrustation gel and spread even layer on the face and neck, and started moving the cathode over my client’s skin gradually turning up the intensity of the current making sure that the client is comfortable and the intensity correct.
·         I went on with circular movements using the cathode to massage the gel into the skin for about 7 minutes.
·         I then stopped to change the polarity, to anode and to reverse the effects of the cathode, for which I used another small sponge soaked into positive loaded gel, and used it for around 3 minutes, at which point I turned the intensity down and turned off the machine. There was no excess gel left on the surface of the skin.
·         I toned the skin and prepare it for the next treatment to come.

High Frequency machine - Direct Method

·         Silvia’s skin was clean and toned after the precious treatment already, so I proceeded with the treatment.
·  Before I began I had to make all the electrical checks, I checked that the intensity control was at zero, checked all the plugs and cables.
·   I sanitized everything so that I would work in a clean environment.
·      I also tested the intensity on myself before starting the treatment just to be sure that everything was working right
·    I explained to Silvia that she might feel different smell, the smell of ozone, and that she might feel a metallic taste in her mouth because of the current.
·      I then  applied an oxygenating cream  Silvia’s face and neck area, placed the electrode on her skin, switched on the machine and I gradually increased the intensity.
·         I carried on and moved the mushroom head electrode in circular movements all over her face and neck, and I tried to cover as much as I could every part of the skin.
·      The treatment lasted for around 5 minutes, and went on well.
·      After the treatment, I cleansed the remaining cream off the face and toned the skin

Client feedback:
Silvia felt the skin very clean, but sensitive to touch in some places. She also told me that she was able tofeel the metallic taste in her mouth which she really didn’t enjoy that much. After the treatment she told me that she finds her imperfections more visible now.

After/Homecare Advice
I suggested to have this treatment about once a month.
·         I also advised her to avoid make-up up for 24 hours after the treatment.
·         I advised her to stay out of direct sun exposure and wear a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 15 in order to minimize premature ageing.
·         I recommended to drink at least 2 litres water day to keep the skin hydrated.
·         I advice her to pay attention to the products she uses for her skin care routine, to avoid anything harsh, and to try and find a moisturizer that has the perfect balance for her skin, one that is not too greasy nor too tight for the skin.
·         To exfoliate but not harshly, to do it around two times a week, so that she will provide a great environment for the new cells to be created and the old cells to be replaced
·         To try and avoid anything comedogenic, like mineral oil.
·         I also advised her to invest into a good cleanser and toner, and to try and avoid alcohol in toners as this might irritate her skin at some point.

Case Study 3
Client  Profile:

For Pamela I choose two treatments that will help deep moisturize her dry skin.
The first treatment is the Galvanic treatment called Iontophoresis.  I explained to my client how the machine worksand how the principles of likes repel and opposites attract works for thistreatment.  The main propriety of this machine is to repel the gel inside the
skin deeper than a normal hand massage, because of the same polarityexistent inside the gel used and the electrodes, which in this case were bothnegative.
This will induce water soluble substances deep in the skin, it will also firm  and tighten the skin. It also refines large pores and closes pores after treatment.
The second treatment was an Indirect High frequency treatment though massage. After performing the iontophoresis which can be performed after thecleanse and before the massage, I decided that the massage performed on myclient would be most beneficial when done along with the indirect highfrequency. What I aimed with this treatment was to relax my client, toimprove the blood and lymph flow, to aid desquamation, to soothe the nerveendings and last but not least to still nourish the skin after the iontophoresistreatment. The indirect method of the high frequency machinewould allow more relaxation for the tissues on the chest, neck and cheeks, a propriety my client will enjoy very much, as her favorite part in a facial isthe facial massage.

Galvanic -Iontophoresis

·         I placed Pamela comfortably on the bed and sanitized my hands and area I performed a superficial cleanse in order to prepare the skin for the coming treatments.
·         I explained the treatment to Pamela and what benefits it will have on her dry skin.
·         I double cleansed and toned Anna’s face.
·      I then proceeded with the sensitivity test and the result was negative so I was ready then to commence with the treatment.
·      As the iontophoresis method work by applying current on the surface of the skin it was necessary for me to make sure that the machine was in perfect condition and that it was working properly before I started applying the current.
·         After I did this, I applied the iontophoresis gel on my client’s skin, a dry skin iontophoresis gel, and made sure I spread it evenly over her face and neck.
·         I then moistened the foam cover and put in the inactive electrode and gave it to Pamela to hold
·         The next step was to test the intensity of the current on myself to avoid any kind of shock on my client, and after doing this I sanitized the electrodes and went on to the actual treatment.
·         Before starting I had to apply some Vaseline around the eye area to prevent “flash” which may occur when the electrode is too close to the eye and the intensity is too strong.
·         I placed the roller on the forehead and keep it moving while I turned the current up, as soon my  client reported a tingling sensation, I turned it down slightly.
·         I moved the roller all over the face and neck for 10 minutes making sure never to break contact.
·      I cleansed any remaining gel off the face and toned the skin, so that the skin is ready for the next treatment.

Indirect High frequency

·         I started sanitizing everything including my hands, applied talcum powder on my client’s hands, tested the intensity of the current inside the saturator on myself first to protect the client for any discomfort and then started the actual treatment.
·         I went for almond oil as a massage medium, because it allows more hydration for the skin, and because it’s a perfect base allowing the ease of movement while performing the massage, as well as the fact that it’s not penetrating the skin easily and so it allows a gradual hydration.
·         The massage performed was a normal facial massage excepting the tapotement movement, which is not recommended to be used during this treatment because as the therapist is part of the whole circuit or the current, interrupting the contact with the skin while the current is still flowing will give the client a shock, which is a very unpleasant sensation.
·      The treatment was performed for around 20 minutes, after which I turned off the intensity slowly while still having one hand on my client, turned the machine off.
·      At the end of the treatment I removed the remaining cream using sponges and warm water.
·      I then toned Pamela’s skin.

Client Feedback:
Pameladescribed the treatment extremely relaxing, upliftingand soothing for her skin. She found it great, and she told me that she felther skin intensely hydrated, soft and smooth and that the heat she felt duringthe treatment was “extraordinary”. There was no erythema present this time, but I was able to see her skin glowing, being more radiant, nourished andrelaxed,.

After/Homecare Advice:

·         I recommended her not to apply make up for at least 24 hours after this treatment or for as long as she could, as the gel that penetrated her skin was still active and continued to work under the skin, and that is why she should try and keep the area as clean as possible, tocreate a good environment for the gel to work its way and maximize the benefits.
·    As well I reminded her the importance of a skin care routine
·      The amount of water that she drinks, the fact that it has to increase in order to help with the hydration.
·      To try and apply a hydrating mask once or twice a week, or a homemade mask a fruit or vegetable mask, one that would suit her best.
·      I advised her  moisturize her skin with a day and night cream, and to make the difference between them two products, because even if their aims are the same they work in different ways.
·         I also advised her to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 15 in order to minimize premature ageing.

Makeup Forever Single Eyelashes no 155 - Review

My favorite false eyelashes are the Makeup Forever Single Eyelashes no 155. These individual lashes look  more natural than strip lashes, and you can apply them wherever you want and as many  as you want. Once you get the hang of applying them they are an absolute breeze. They don't look false at all, it just looks like I've got naturaly lush lashes combined with a great mascara. The really  give you great lash volume and really open up your eyes.

The kit comes with a lash glue and 3 rows of black medium flare lashes. All the lashes are knotted, which can be covered up easily with eyeliner. The glue  dries to black color, which will additionally darken your lash line.
The application is fairly easy. Pick one up with your tweezers, dip it into the glue, and drop it on exactly where you want it. Then press on your lash line with the back of the tweezers. It helps if your looking down into a mirror. To help the lashes really bond to your natural lashes, pinch your natural and false eyelashes together between your fingers firmly.

With good application and good aftercare, the individual eyelashes can last up to one weekTo remove them, lift the outside edge of the eyelashes and pull gently.

Cost in Ireland € 15.50.

Have you tried the Makeup Forever Single Eyelashes yet? What are you favorite single lashes?

Neal's Yard Beauty Sleep Concentrate

When it comes to skincare, I am not a loyal customer. I am always on a look-out for the next best thing that will give the perfect skin.
One of the products that I recently discovered and now I can live without is the Neal's Yard Beauty Sleep Concentrate. It has a very relaxing and sleep inducing scent with a blend of ylang ylang, orange, patchouli, clary sage and cypress.  It's like a sleep miracle, I could fall asleep the minute I apply it, and I sleep very deep after and it makes my skin look like as it had eight hours sleep next morning.  Also from  the very first application I could tell the difference in the softness and smoothness of my skin. The texture is so light and absorbs into my skin very quickly. The glass bottle has a pump applicator and therefore really hygienic to use. A little goes a long way, so only three pumps cover my whole face. Gently massage onto skin with a light, upwards, circular motion.

Neal's Yard Beauty Sleep Concentrate  is suitable for all skin types and is 90% organic and it  doesn't contains any parabens, silicones, mineral oils, and artificial fragrances. Neal's Yard have conducted clinical trials on this product and have found that it increased the skin's moisture by up to 98% over 12 hours.

Benefits in a nutshell
• Supports skin’s night time recovery
• Helps prevent premature skin ageing
• Replenishes and refreshes
• Increases skin's moisture levels by up to 98% over 12 hours
Price in Ireland: € 37.00

I thoroughly recommend this to everyone.

Have you ever tried Neal's Yard Beauty Sleep Concentrate?

Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation

Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation is my favorite foundation at the moment. First time I tried it, I was really surprised that a less expensive foundation could deliver such great results. The name is really perfect, it does actually makes me look more awake and it  gives my skin the most gorgeous glow without being shiny. It gives a flawless  finish with a medium coverage, but can be built up to full coverage if needed. It spreads easily, blends perfectly into my skin. 103 True Yvory is an excellent colour match for me, and I would say it will suit most medium skin tones.  If you have very pale complexion skin, I suggest going for the lightest shade.

Cost in Ireland Euro 11.90.

All in all this is an amazing foundation for the price.  Everyone please go out there and get this! Seriously!

How to tint eyebrows step-by-step

$
0
0

Before you start, please carry out a patch test behind your ears at least 24hours before the treatment.
If you experience any redness, swelling or stinging, do not proceed with the eyebrow tint!

First decide what color you would like your eyebrows to be, and make sure not to go to dark because that can be too obvious and to ageing.  For myself personally, I mix the colors black and brown and together.

Here is rough color guideline that I use on other clients:
black/blue for very dark brown or black brows,
black/brown for medim brown brows,
brown/grey (taupe) for blond eyebrows,
brown for red eyebrows.

To get started you will need:
Eyelash tint color of your choice
Eyelash tint Developer
Small mixing bowl
Eyelash tint brush
Petroleum jelly
Cotton buds
Damp cotton pads
You can purchase all the products in a beauty salon supply shop.

Step 1
In a small mixing bowl squeeze about one centimetre of the eyelash tint and add two drops of the developer to the tint.

Step 2
Using an eyelash tint brush, mix the tint well with the developer.

Step 3
Apply a layer of petroleum jelly on the skin around your eyebrows with a cotton bud, making sure that no petroleum jelly touches the eyebrow hair.

Step 4
Apply to the left eyebrow a layer of the tint against the hair growth, making sure to coat every single hair thoroughly.  Then repeat the same procedure to the right eye.

Step 5
After you have completed the tint application to the eyebrows, removed the tint from the left eyebrow with a damp cotton pad and make sure that the tint has penetrated the brows. Repeat the same procedure to the right eye.

And this is how easy it is to tint your eyebrows.Hope you enjoyed the tutorial!

Easy Make-Up Look that suits everyone

Here are some make-up products that are a must have for every women's make-up bag.Having a taupe and champagne eyeshadow, dark brown eyepencil and coral blush and lipstick in your make-up bag is essential as having a little black dress in your wardrobe. These shades work  perfectly on every skin tone and are suitable for every occasion.
Champagne Eyeshadow
Champagne is great neutral shade that works great as a base eyeshadow but also can double up as a highlighter. It  particularly  looks great with all shades of brown. One of my favorite champagne eyeshadows is MAC Paint in  Bare Canvas and Bobbi Brown Shimmer Eye Shadow in Champagne.
Taupe Eyeshadow
Taupe is a mix of brown and grey, and is great for soft smokey eye that is suitable for the office and the night out in town. One of my favorite taupe eyeshadows is MAC Patina.
Dark Brown Eyepencil
I mostly use dark brown eyepencils because black can be harsh on my eyes and make them look to dark.  My favorite dark brown pencil is MAC Coffee.
Coral Blush and Lipstick
The vibrant shade of coral  helps to brighten the face and gives a radiant overall look. My favorite Corals are  MAC blush in Dainty and MAC lipglass in Pink Lemonade.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer - Review

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in Alaska Review
NARS Pure-Radiant Tinted Moisturizers in Alaska

I hardly use tinted moisturizers, just because they usually don’t provide enough coverage, but NARS Pure-Radiant Tinted Moisturizers has amazing coverage and looks so natural and feels weightless on my skin. I just use my fingers to put it on and it looks flawless, so perfect for these days when I am rushing out the doors. It has a light gel texture that blends easily over moisturized skin and it gives me a beautiful semi matte satin finish. It makes my skin glowy without being greasy and usually I just dust light pressed powder on top and am ready to go.
Now if you have loads of imperfections, such as dark under eye circles, pigmentation spots or scars, you still will need a concealer or corrector.
It comes in a black matte sleek typical NARS packaging squeeze tube which seals and closes effortlessly and very little product is wasted if you are careful. And generally little products goes long way, only a pea size is enough to cover my entire face.
The color ranges isn’t extensive, and especially for fair-skinned people. I purchased this in the second lightest shade Alaska, which has yellow and pink undertones, and it matches my skin perfectly and since it is neutral in color it will suits most light to medium skin tones. So if you are on fence between a lighter and a darker shade, I suggest you go for the lighter shade, but again, since it is quite sheer, it can be easily blended in to the skin, without looking to streaky or to obvious.
The tinted moisturizer is oil-free, and contains SPF 30/PA+++ and it has also some skin benefits  to hydrate and help to reduce appearance of hyper pigmentation and dark spots on top of that.
It costs €35 here in Ireland.
So if you want to look more natural and more like yourself, but still have some coverage, then the NARS Pure-Radiant Tinted Moisturizers is the one for you.
Have you tried the NARS Pure-Radiant Tinted Moisturizer yet?

Blue eyeshadow is back and its here to stay, well at least for the Spring/Summer 2013 season. The blue eyeshadow  didn't have the best reputation over the last years and actually it  hasn't been seen much around since the 80's. I am actually quite happy about its return, because this is such an amazing shade that suits every eye color, but it looks especially stunning on brown eyes. Here  is a easy step-by-step tutorial  how to rock the blue this summer.

Bobbi Brown's matte Eyeshadows

$

I love  matte eyeshadows, they are  perfect for the day time and they look softer and more natural than shimmery metallics.  Also shimmer sets in expression lines enhancing wrinkles, so using mattes will  give more of a smooth finish to the lids.
Also keep in mind that matte eyeshadows photograph better   in flash photography. If you have shimmery shadow all over the lid, and you take a photo with flash, the flash reflects off the shimmers, and makes your eyes look more closed.

I love the texture of Bobbi Brown’s matte eyeshadows, its very fine milled, buttery soft, and they apply like silk and blend like a dream and last all day long. The colors are very pigmented are crease free and skin tone flattering.
The flip-top packaging is good, and I also love the option of being able to arrange them into the palette pans to make my own custom color palettes.
They are quite bit pricy with a price tag of € 24 here in Ireland, but you get a lot of product and the container last forever.
Eyeshadow: Yvory, Eyeliner: MAC Fluidline in Black Track, Lips: Supercover Lipstick wheel no 1 shade Ruby, Blush: MAC Dollymix

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Yvory
Yvory Ivory is somewhat lighter than bone, but not bright white. I use it as a base eyeshadow or just to even out my lids. It brightens my eyes like nothing else and a great highlighter for the brow bone and on other parts of my face.  It is very sheer, almost like pale-colored face powder, so don’t expect any color payoff.

Eyeshadow:Shell, Eyeliner: MAC Fluidline in Black Track, Lips: Lancôme Rouge in Love 128M Ever So Sweet, Blush: Shu Uemura glow on blush in M 345

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Shell
Shell is a matte peachy-beige with a touch of pink. I use it as a base color and it just brightens the eye area and it provides a perfect clean and matte canvas and also keeps eyeshadows from creasing. It looks lovely when used on the brow bone.  Great shade for a minimalist look or for the retro pinup look paired with a winged eyeliner.  Very similar to MAC’s Orb.

Eyeshadow: Wheat, Cheeks: Make up For Ever high definition blush in (6) Quicky, Lips: MAC Lipstick in Morange
Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Wheat
wheat which is a light beige grey brown - it is quite sheer, so it would really show up on lighter skin tones. It’s a neutral base shade that blends quite well with other shades. Great color for the so called no makeup look, or if you want to balance a bright or dark lipstick.  I find it to be very similar to MAC Omega, so if you have that one, you don’t need Wheat.

Eyeshadow: Taupe/Shimmer Eyeshadow in Bone, Lips: Nars Red Lizard, Blush: Bobbi Brown in Blushed

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Taupe
Taupe is a matte medium golden soft brown with yellow/orange undertones, not really taupe at all since there is not one spec of gray. If you are looking for taupe, you might have a look at  Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Blonde, which is cooler or  BB Wheat which is cooler and two shades lighter. This is perfect shadow for contouring without adding too much color or being too dark.

Eyeshadow: Sable, Lips: Boijours 09 Pop Orange,Blush: Style

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Sable
Sable is a matte neutral medium brown with a slight peach undertone. I wear it mostly on the lids or the crease for depth and along my bottom lash line or as a middle color underneath my crease. Also great shade for blondes or redheads for filling in the brows.

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Blonde
Blonde is a light ashy taupe brown almost the color of cinnamon. It is quite similar to Sable and Taupe, so you definitely don’t need three of them.  I like to use it in a crease paired with ivory as a base for a polished eye.

Eyeshadow: Heather, Lips and Cheek: Bobbi Brown Cream pot in Coral

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Heather
Heather is a dusty grey brown plum with blue undertones. I usually wear it with BB Cream eyeshadow in Bone as a base and apply Heather over the lid today and in the crease and smoke it out lightly towards the brows. Great color for a soft smokey eye. I think this shade looks best on those with green/brown/hazel eyes and light skin.

Eyeshadow: Slate, Cheeks: Bobbi Brownb Bronzing Powder in  golden light , Lips: Rimmel in vogue
Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Slate
Slate is a neutral medium grey-taupe with a hint of purple, and really looks amazing on green and brown eyes. It looks dark in the pot, but it goes on sheer and the color is buildable, really perfect for a subtle smokey eye. I personally love to wear Slate from lash to crease for a dramatic look paired with pink lipstick and blush.

Eyeshadow: Steel, Cheeks: Catrice 060 Strawberry Frappuciono,  Lips: L'Oreal 297 Red Passion

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Steel
Steel is a medium warm dark grey with blue undertones. This shade is perfect for the dark smokey eye look and I like to apply it over a pink base.

Eyeshadow:Hot Stone, Lips: Bobbi Brown Rosy, Blush: MAC Pinch O'Peach

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Hot Stone
Hot Stone is a matte cool neutral ashy brown with a hint of a plum, almost like a chocolate brown. I use it often on my lid for a light smokey eye and it really makes my brown eyes pop. I also like to use it as contour shade for a more natural look. Since it has no red undertones, it is perfect for filling in eyebrows.

Eyeshadow: Cocoa, Lips and Cheeks: MAC Something Special

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Cocoa
Cocoa is a matte  warm chocolate brown with burgundy undertones. It’s both a great crease color and a great liner. I like to use is for the soft smokey eye paired with loads of black eyeliner. The shade is very similar to MAC's swiss chocolate, only less creamy.

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Rich Brown
Rich Brow is a  matte warm  deep dark brown with red undertones. Similar to BB espresso but warmer and softer.Very versatile eye shadow, I like to use it as a shadow liner, brow powder, crease shade or just plain lid color smoked out slightly. It is similar to MAC's brown down, so if you have that one, you certainly don’t need both.

Eyeshadow: Mahogany, Cheeks: MAC Blushcreme in Posey, Lips: guerlain rouge automatique nahema (143)

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Mahogany
Mahagony is a matte rich deep neutral brown with a hint of grey. This eye shadow is perfect for a sophisticated brown smoky eye. I  like to pair it with the Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Petal all over the upper lid as a base and the Mahogany in the crease and  as a liner.  I also use it sometimes to line my eyes, which gives a softly smudged look. It also looks great with yvory as a base and Mahogany in the crease and outer corner.  It also makes a great brow powder for dark eyebrows

Eyeshadow: Caviar,Cheeks:Bare Minerals face color in warmth,  Lips: MAC Please me

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Caviar
Caviar is a not-quite-black, but more very deep dark brown. This eyeshadow is perfect for lining eyes, just make sure to wet your angle brush first, to avoid the fall out. I also like to rim the whole eye, from the lower lid up to the crease, for a very intense smokey eye. Also great shade for the outer v-corner.

Can you believe, I only get to try Catrice’s Defining blush now, and that only because I was looking for a good contouring blush without any orange hues. So, I came across the 010 Toffee Fairy and I bought it mainly to contour my cheeks, and it is doing a great job so far,  really giving my cheeks a good structure. For contouring work I use mostly a kabuki brush and blend the blush into my base.

Catrice Defining Blush in (010) Toffee Fairy

Toffee Fairy is lovely beige brown shade without any red or gold tones. It really give me  a fresh  healthy natural glow, without being to red or orange that some bronzer can do.  It does contain some silver shimmer,  but I don’t find it to obvious, it almost falls of the face once applied and it leaves my face with a satin finish.  The blush goes on quite sheer at first, but it’s defiantly buildable if you apply more, just be careful,  the shimmer would be more obvious as  if applied with a light hand. I mostly would then apply a brighter blush on the apples of my cheeks.
I also find that Toffee Fairy is great dupe for Benefit’s Dallas, maybe the Toffee Fairy is tad lighter and more on the shimmery side. It also looks very similar to MAC's blush in Harmony, which is another favorite of my for sculpting the cheekbones. Harmony is completely matte though.

All in all, this is great blush for a natural bronzed look and if you are a lover of Benefit’s  Dallas or MAC's Harmony, you might want to check this beauty out and save yourself some money.
Cost in Ireland € 3, 99 for 5g.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation vs Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Serum vs CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua

$

These two foundations have been compared to the famous CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua quite a bit, so I decided to try them myself. Bourjois and CHANEL are actually the same company, so the Bourjois products could be in reality a high-end product sold at a high street price tag. Let’s see then, here are my observations.

Wearing Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in Shade 52
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in a nutshell
·         fresh fruity scent
·         contains apricot, apple, melon and ginger extracts
·         glass bottle with a dispensing pump
·         no SPF
Coverage
·         medium buildable coverage and gives a natural semi-matte  but still radiant finish,
Texture
·         Thick and creamy consistency
·         Doesn’t dry to quickly and leaves loads of time for blending
Shade Selection
·         Available in 6 Shades, with  more color choices  for paler than for darker complexions
Price
·         €14.95 for 30ml here in Ireland.

Wearing Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Serum in Shade 52
Bourjouis Healthy Mix  Foundation Serum in a nutshell
·         same fruity scent  as the Healthy Mix Foundation
·          contains lychee, pomegranate and goji berries extracts
·         Plastic bottle with a dispensing pump, travel friendly
·         No SPF
Coverage
·         light-to-medium coverage and has a more luminous, dewy finish.
·         Evens out skin tone and  brightens tired skin
·         semi-matte, dewy finish
Texture
·         Oil Free gel texture, slightly runny
·         blends easily
Shade Selection
·         Available in 8 Shades,  and again with  more color choices  for pale skin than for darker complexions
Price
·         €14.95 for 30ml here in Ireland.

Wearing CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua in Shade B20
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua in a nutshell
·         Classic Floral powdery  Chanel scent
·         Travel friendly light packaging, but  doesn’t have the  luxurious feel  other Chanel products
·         Only a smallest amount needed to cover the whole face
·         No SPF
Coverage
·         sheer  light to medium coverage with a illuminating satin finish
·         perfect balance between matte and luminous radiance.
·         lasts on my skin for a about 8 hours
Texture
·         water based foundation
·         airy, whipped,cooling  texture
·         hydrating feel  on the skin
·         blends easily
·         oil-free and non-comedogenic
Shade Selection
·         Available in 10 Shades,   I found that the darker shades start to pull a little orange on the skin or they did on mine anyway. I generally prefer yellow undertone foundation since it counteracts the redness in pinker skin tones.
Price
·         €39.00 for 30ml here in Ireland.
Bourjois  Healthy Mix  Foundation in Shades 51 and 52/ Bourjois Healthy Mix  Foundation Serum in Shades 51 and 52/CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua in Shades B20 and B30
So the bottom line
In my mind the CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua is superior to Healthy Mix Foundation  and Healthy Mix Foundation Serum  in the way that it gives such perfect base,  but doesn’t look like I’m wearing makeup.
If you want something that doesn’t mask your whole face and only evens out your skin tone as a tinted moisturizer would do, and you don’t mind the price tag, then this a foundation for you.

The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum comes in the second place and provides slightly more coverage and gives still refined, fresh, and flawless look. I also have used this foundation on photo shoots when  I wanted to achieve that fresh faced, dewy, flawless skin on models or more  mature skin. I also found it to be a great foundation for those with oily to combination skin. I would not go so far and say that this is the same thing as the CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua, but in its performance it is definitely similar.

If you need more coverage, I would definitely go for the Healthy Mix Foundation, as it provides medium coverage, covering redness, minor thread veins and dark spots, but it still feels light and natural on the skin.

But at the end of the day, I think all 3 of them are great foundations on its own, so if you are still in two minds, which one to get, then I would suggest you get some samples and try it out.

Have you tried any of these foundations?  What are your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments!

CHANEL Soleil Tan de CHANEL - Review

CHANEL Soleil Tan de CHANEL is one of my all time favorite bronzing products of all the time. This bronzer gives me a nice sun-kissed glow without the ugly, ashy powdery finish like some bronzers do.
It looks almost orange in the jar, but when applied to the skin, it gives a beautiful caramel toned highlight to the cheeks; it just makes me look perfectly fresh, like I have been out in the sun for the day.

The packaging is a shatterproof plastic jar which can be bit too large for traveling or to carry around as it takes to much space in a cosmetic bag.

The texture of this matte cream base is very lightweight and airy, almost like a mousse and goes on smooth and blends easily without streaks. Little goes long way, so  you need very little product, therefore the jar lasts forever.

Unfortunately,  it doesn't come with anything to apply it with, no sponge or no brush, so I use my kabuki brush, swirl in the container, buff the excess on the back of my hand, and apply it under my cheekbones and around the outside of my face for a light contour. Keep in mind that it builds up easily, so start very light since  it can get very intense quickly.

The only downside is that it's has a harder surface so most likely some bristles of your brush will get stuck in it, so it can be bit unhygienic.

 Cost in Ireland € 39.00 for 30 g.

All I can say is, this is a must have in every women’s handbag, so save up ladies and buy this bronzer ...you won't regret it!
